Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Information

Rehabilitation is designed to assist you if you are injured or become ill as a result of your service. The type and extent of rehabilitation will depend on the
nature and severity of your injury or illness. Services are available for veterans
with or without an injury or illness.

Medical rehabilitation can be as simple as having physiotherapy on a sprained
ankle, or as complex as teaching you to walk again. Vocational rehabilitation is
the process of assisting you to return to the workforce. Psychosocial rehabilitation may include such things as referral to community support services, basic skills training, lifestyle programs, attendant care services or drug and alcohol management programs.

Defence Force Welfare Association - Winter 2008

To read the DFWA WINTER EDITION click here

The Defence Force Welfare Association (DFWA), formerly known as the Regular Defence Force Welfare Association, is a federally-based ex-service organisation with branches in each state and territory.

The DFWA helps, advises, assists and promotes the welfare of serving and former members of the Australian Defence Force, their dependants and their widow(ers). The sole concern of the DFWA is the welfare of serving and former members of the ADF, and their families, and all of its resources are devoted to this objective.

The DFWA exists to review service conditions for both serving and retired personnel and has been doing so for nearly 50 years. Much of their effort is directed toward correcting mistakes which were probably unintentional but which have a substantial impact on all of us.
