Leaving Defence

Defence is committed to ensuring that ADF members and their families are provided with support services throughout their career, particularly when they leave the ADF.

Since 2007, Defence has developed a comprehensive program to assist the transition from the ADF to employment or retirement in the civilian environment.

ADF Transition Centres have been set up in each region to deliver seminars and counselling on a range of topics such as finances, future employment, education and training, health, housing and legal matters.

Touchbase Pilot

Touchbase is a pilot program which commenced in December 2010 to support veterans and their families.

Touchbase features a wide range of topics, from counselling services, family support and mental health information to sporting clubs and entertainment. Touchbase will assist former ADF members and their families in linking and accessing to these services.
