National Defence Families Access Card Rollout

National Defence Families Access Card available now

Dependants of ADF members, aged 16 years and above, may apply for and be issued with a National Defence Families Access Card subject to positive proof of identity, Defence recognition of the relationship to the sponsoring member, and formal acknowledgement of responsibilities and conditions of use.

Base access is limited to base married accommodation and family/community areas, and will be subject to the daily security requirements of the base. This card is in the process of being phased in and the standard base family card will be offered where it is not available.

Priority will be given to dependants of deployed personnel; those who are classified as MWD(U); those who do not already possess a base access card; or whose card is about to expire.

The card is currently available at eight Defence pass office locations, those being:

  • Defence Plaza Sydney,
  • HMAS Kuttabul
  • RAAF Richmond
  • Steele Barracks Moorebank (Liverpool)
  • Gallipoli Barracks (Brisbane)
  • Victoria Barracks (Melbourne)
  • Defence Orientation Centres (Canberra) at R1 and CP4

The rollout of the National Defence Families Access Card is being done in conjunction with a major Defence pass office upgrade to a fully integrated networked environment. DFA will advertise other locations as they become available.

Contact a base control office to obtain a form and then attend a pass office with the ADF member to have the card issued. Families are advised to obtain a card before ADF members deploy as the card cannot be issued without the member present.

Please contact DFA at convenor@dfa.org.au if you have any feedback on the card issue process.
