DHA recognises that October through to January can be a busy time for Defence families posting to a new location. DHA has been working a number of improvements to the housing allocation process since last year.
DHA can speed up the pre-application for relocation (pre-AFR) process for you by completing it over the phone when you ring your nearest Housing Management Centre on 139 342. Alternatively, you can complete it online through www.tolltransitions.com.au/defence or provide a hard copy to your local Toll Transitions customer service centre.
Once your pre-AFR is submitted, DHA can give you immediate access to HomeFind. Here you can search online for available properties that are suitable for your family at a time convenient for you.
Another feature of HomeFind is the ability to reserve a property online. When you see a property that meets your needs you can instantly reserve it online, regardless of the time or day. Once you’ve completed your AFR, available online at the Toll Transitions website, you gain full access to HomeFind, and you can lock down your reserved property. Alternatively, you can c speak directly to a DHA case manager to lock down a property.
The new system is easier for Defence members and families who are relocating, and gives the member greater convenience to reserve a property at a time most convenient for you.
