Employment Overview

Meaningful employment is an essential part of life whether you are an ADF member or a Defence Partner.

Defence Families of Australia is committed to assisting Defence Families to find jobs despite sometimes needing to overcome the extra challenges of moving and a partner’s absences from home. DFA does not list positions vacant but aims to provide relevant advice.

The Australian Defence Force recognises these extra challenges and has implemented an assistance program called Partner Employment and Education Program (PEEP). The Defence Community Organisation administers PEEP.

The application process for the first round of PEEP funding has closed. The second round will open on June 1. Partners are advised to apply early as only a limited number of applications will be approved.

DFA knows that many Defence Partners choose to run businesses due to their mobile lifestyle. DFA has information on moving occupations and businesses between towns and interstate.

There are some Defence and commercial organisations that are seeking skilled workers and are sympathetic to the needs of Defence Families. DFA has suggestions of organisations that Defence Partners may wish to approach.
