Defence Relocations and Housing Managers

Defence Support Group (DSG) has a dedicated Defence Relocations & Housing Manager (DRHM) based in each DSG Regional Office who will;

• Provide relocation and housing advice to members and their families;
• Maintain customer/provider relationships by participating in regular meetings and discussions with DHA and Toll Transitions managers to resolve issues, identify trends and improvement opportunities;
• Resolve difficulties experienced regarding housing provision, maintenance, allocation itinerary management and removals; and
• Provide advocacy on behalf of members and their families to resolve disputes with DHA or Toll Transitions from the provision of removal and housing services.

At the local level, DRHMs are the primary Defence representative with Defence Housing Australia (DHA) and Toll Transitions. DRHMs are employed to assist military members and their families and to liaise with DHA, Toll Transitions and the Defence Community Organisation in each region to make relocations easier for members and their families.

The ultimate aim of the DRHM is to ensure that members and their families experience high quality customer service as they undergo a removal or change to their housing situation. The DRHM also contributes by ensuring Defence receives the appropriate standard of relocation services by being aware of what is expected of our contractors and what the members and their families are experiencing.

The DRHM network is very proactive and actively seeks feedback from members on the full relocation service. This feedback is used to provide Defence management and service providers with information on how members feel about their removal experience and more importantly to make their removal and future removals as stress free as possible. A DRHM may visit a customer during an uplift or delivery to discuss and assess the standard of service being provided. In some instances they will contact members after a relocation to discuss whether the relocation met his/her expectations. In the past, these discussions have revealed region-wide trends or issues that have been addressed with contractors.

If a member has an inquiry regarding his/her housing maintenance/allocation or relocation services, do not hesitate to refer the person to our regional DRHM. Also if a member is dissatisfied with the service provided or decision made by DHA or Toll Transitions, the regional DRHM will assist him/her to resolve their concerns.
