It is with pleasure that I recently met with the Convenor of Defence Families of Australia in my new role as the Minister of Defence Science and Personnel. The Government recognises the many challenges facing Defence families and I am very keen to work closely with DFA to improve conditions and to ensure that families are involved in policy discussion which affects them.

DFA initiated this major website redevelopment to make it easier for families to find information about policy, entitlements, conditions and posting locations in a one-stop shop. The DFA website also aims to encourage the sense of community and support Defence families have for each other by providing tips from locals on posting locations.

They have successfully pulled together the enormous amount of information relating to families from the various Defence related organisations.
The Government fully supports this initiative and I encourage families to register on the DFA website to have their “voices” heard through a recognised and respected forum.
