    ADF Families residing in the following Defence locations may be eligible to register to participate in the trial:

  • Life in Katherine DVD

    The Northern Territory Government has produced a DVD aimed at Defence Families living in Katherine. It features local residents talking about how they have adapted to living in the Top End.

  • Darwin Families welcome ADF members home from Afghanistan

    Darwin-based Australian Defence Force (ADF) members of Combined Team Uruzgan (CTU) and the Force Communication Unit have returned home on 29 May 2011 from operations in Afghanistan and the wider Middle East after a successful eight-month deployment.

    CTU is a multi-national headquarters commanded by US Army Colonel Jim Creighton and is staffed primarily by Australian and US personnel. Among the units under their control was Australia's Mentoring Task Force.

  • Telstra Smart Wiring in Lyons Estate

    Defence Families of Australia approached the Defence Department to gain a greater understanding of the installation of Telstra Smart Community in Lyons Estate, Darwin after several families highlighted the limitations of the telecommunications service.

    The Housing Policy Unit within the Defence Department is looking into the issue including the current way Defence Housing Australia configures their housing for phone & internet.

    DFA will update families at the conclusion of this research.

  • DCO Tindal Welcome Expo

    More than 200 people attended the DCO Tindal Welcome Expo including DFA's National Delegate for Northern Territory Marion Donohue and DFA's Senior Representative in Tindal, Amanda McCue.

    There was a good mix of community and Defence organisations.

    The revised model of the ADF Family Health Trial, which commences on April 1 and includes choice of doctor, was recieved enthusiastically by Tindal families. Read more.

  • Defence Relocation & Housing Managers - Darwin

  • Larrakeyah Neighbourhood House to run yoga classes

    Expressions of interest are being sought for Yoga classes to be held at Larrakeyah Neighbourhood House.

  • Larrakeyah Neighbourhood House introduces fees

    At the last Larrakeyah Neighbourhood House (LNH) Committee Meeting on 8 December 2010 the committee decided to introduce a membership fee commencing 1 January 2011.

    By introducing a membership fee the Committee hope to bring a sense of belonging and ownership for LNH members.

    This fee will help to cover some of the extras such as the espresso machine and the quarterly Free Members BBQ that LNH will be starting this year.
