Defence Kids Program

DCO's five week program aims to help primary school aged children to cope with, and adjust to, family separations, disruptions and change.

Topics include:

• understanding Defence parents' jobs;

• managing change;

• linking thoughts, feelings and behaviours;

• making and keeping friends; and building self-esteem.

The program is run by Defence Social Workers and the DCO Regional Education Liasion Officer in a fun, friendly environment.

Parents are encouraged to attend a parent information session to be able to reinforce the strategies and concepts at home.
